Doodle No. 25 : The Astrology Sisters : Taurus

I've been working on these new drawings called "The Astrology Sisters". I did the original in black and white of course. B&W is so much easier for me - to draw something and then be out - no deliberating over what colors to use, because sometimes adding color can be tortuous for me, but this one seemed to flow.

As soon as I add the first color or two to a new piece, I know if it's going to work out, or not. lol Luckily, this one worked from the beginning. Wish they could all flow like that.  *pipe dream*

PS: It's very true what research says about coloring being VERY relaxing and soothing. It definitely make stress just melt away. More astrology signs coming up. Stay tuned for yours...

Doodle No. 23 : You Are What You Say You Are

Most of us have encountered that person who attempts to define others (let's name him/her "The Definer"). Examples: when the subject of ethnicity comes up and they say "you don't look insert ethnicity here" as if they know what ALL the world's people look like (most all afro latinos know what I'm talking about here), or someone says that they're bisexual and 'The Definer' says, "ah, you're just gay".  This doodle was inspired by the world's many "definers" - who, unbeknownst to them, don't have the power to define anyone, but themselves.

NOTE:  While reading this back to myself, it struck me that it sounds like a personal experience post, but actually, it came from many posts I've read in my travels on Instagram - the place where I'm getting much of my inspiration from these days. :)

Doodle No. 19 : Afro Latina

Shout out to my loves who came all the way from NYC to visit me in the desert! They lit up more than the evening sky with fireworks! I haven't had that much fun in forever! Thank you doesn't even say how grateful I am for you inspirational, positive and happy beings! MWAH! xoxo

PS: this piece also nicely coincides with Cape Verde's Independence Day today! Shout out to all the Afro Latinos out there!

Doodle No. 11 : Bearded Boys Rule

My man crush Monday is this dude, who's rockin' both the cute afro and the beard. I've been crushin' on beards for months now, and apparently, it's still a thing (because, ya know, when it shows up in your work, it's a thing). Enjoy my [rare] drawing of a male. lol

Doodle No. 10 : Women Hold Up Half The Sky

To say that women hold up half the sky is to say that men hold up the other half. Which is also to say that we are equal, which we are not. Am I right? Even though women hold up way more than half the sky, I still like this quote.
